Es una danza preciosa y espero que nunca, nunca, demos de lado a nuestra cultura europea, con las particulares idiosincrasias de los países y sus matices. Bravo por esta pareja! Dont think any tenor could sing this better than mario ? . The sheer intensity and quality of his voice is unmatched imo.

Reportedly they referred to each other as Miss Powell & Mr. Astaire for the first few days of filming, until they both acknowledged they were just a pair of hoofers & it was Ellie & Fred after that. She’s right in there with him & IMHO is actually better. This is MGM in all its glory & as always, it’s all about the girl’s costume & how it moves as she dances.

The only reason this kind of entertainment is not popular anymore is because Americans have corrupted themselves to such a degree.

This is very close to the performance of Cziffra himself! You really should play more Cziffra works, because you have wonderful technique for interpreting his complex compositions such as William Tell, Romanian Fantasy and transcriptions of Hungarian Dances!
